For the first time in almost two decades, Apple has decided to bump up the version number of the Mac's operating system. The change is meant to call attention to both the pending Apple Silicon transition—Big Sur will be the first macOS version to run on Apple's own chips, even if it's not the first to require those chips—and to an iPad-flavored redesign that significantly overhauls the look, feel, and sound of the operating system for the first time in a long while. Even the post-iOS-7 Yosemite update took pains to keep most things in the same place as it changed their look.

But unlike the jump from Mac OS 9 to Mac OS X, where Apple swept away almost every aspect of its previous operating system and built a new one from the foundation up, macOS 11 is still fundamentally macOS 10. Early betas were even labeled as macOS 10.16, and Big Sur can still identify itself as version 10.16 to some older software in order to preserve compatibility. Almost everything will still work the same way—or, at least, Big Sur doesn't break most software any more than older macOS 10 updates did. It may even be a bit less disruptive than Catalina was. This ought to be a smooth transition, most of the time.
We won't be making any major changes to how we approach this review, either. We'll cover the operating system's new look and new features—the things that any Big Sur Mac will be able to do, regardless of whether it's running on an Intel or an Apple Silicon Mac. To the extent that it's possible to do without final hardware in-hand, we'll cover the new macOS features that will be native to Apple Silicon Macs and outline how the software side of the transition will go.

Getting Started With the Asolo Fugitive GTX
The Asolo Fugitive GTX has a great feel on your feet. The boot has a roomy interior with a big toe box – no blisters! I've worn thin and thick socks without any problem. That makes them good for cold and and hot conditions.
Unlike some leather hiking boots I've had, I didn't need to break these boots in. They just work out of the box. Just a heads up though, the footbed in this hiking boot is totally flat. If you like something molded to your foot, use an insole. There's plenty of room in the boot for an insole.
The tread on the Asolo Fugitive GTX was a little slippery at first. After a few hours of wear, whatever was causing the problem wore off and it was all good.
Expect to get some compliments on the trail as well, people seem to dig them.

Update Yosemite To Catalina
I've hiked all over the world in the Asolo Fugitive GTX, from desert, to rocky cliff trails, to thick, thick, annoying rain forest mud. You can pretty much bomb through anything like a tank with these hiking boots. They have Gore-Tex to keep your feet dry. The toe is reinforced as well.
Because this boot is so bomb-proof, you loose the feel of the trail. When the conditions are bad, this is a good thing. Otherwise I hike with a boot that's more agile.

I've had good traction in wet and slippery conditions. When I first got these hiking boots, they were a bit slippery on wet rocks, etc, but this went away after the first hike or two. Hiking with the Asolo meant I could forget about my feet and traction, and focus on other things.
They have just enough ankle support without feeling constricting. I've used them with heavy packs on multi-day trips without a problem. No rolled ankles.
An Update on My Hiking Boots
My first pair of these hiking boots finally died after 8 years of use, thousands of miles, and probably a good dose of neglect by be. The sole started coming off of the toe. The tread had some wear, but was still usable. Usb image writer. They were still as comfortable as the day I got them.
8 years is pretty good in my book. I bought another pair.
